What is lorem ipsum?
Lorem ipsum is dummy text that designers and printers have used for centuries to fill a layout before the real words are ready. It looks like ordinary writing, with words of different lengths and normal punctuation, but nobody is tempted to stop and read it, so attention stays on the design.
It comes from a passage of De finibus bonorum et malorum, a book on ethics written by the Roman statesman Cicero in 45 BC. The text was cut up and changed, so it is no longer proper Latin: lorem is the end of the word dolorem, meaning pain. This generator builds new sentences from the words of the classic passage.
