M--
Remembering M
- It sounds like dah-dah. Say it out loud as you listen, and learn the rhythm rather than counting dots and dashes.
- M has 2 signals: 2 dashes. It takes 7 units of time to send, where a dot is one unit.
- M is roughly the 14th most common letter in English. Morse code gives the shortest codes to the commonest letters, which is why rarer letters like M are longer.
- Swap every dot for a dash and every dash for a dot and you get I (..). Learning opposite pairs together helps them stick.
- Add more signals to the end of M and you get G, O, Q and Z, so it helps to learn these letters after M.
