N-.
Remembering N
- It sounds like dah-dit. Say it out loud as you listen, and learn the rhythm rather than counting dots and dashes.
- N has 2 signals: 1 dot and 1 dash. It takes 5 units of time to send, where a dot is one unit.
- N is roughly the 6th most common letter in English. Morse code gives the shortest codes to the commonest letters, which is why N is quick to send.
- Swap every dot for a dash and every dash for a dot and you get A (.-). Learning opposite pairs together helps them stick.
- Read it backwards and you get A (.-).
- Add more signals to the end of N and you get B, C, D, K, X and Y, so it helps to learn these letters after N.
